Building Biology & Ecology [green + healthy + smart]
Building Biology is a science investigating the built environment and its associated health hazards. We use the principles of Building Biology as a means to improve living and work spaces and the health of the people who occupy them. It is the oldest way and still the only way to ensure that the buildings you live and work in have the least potential adverse impact on your health.
Not associated with OH&S, the term Building Biology [Baubiologie] was coined in Germany and is fast becoming a world wide movement with accredited courses now in USA, New Zealand + Australia.
At Designer Project Group we consider the health of our team during construction and the health of the buildings occupant and impact on the surrounding environment. Modern buildings and materials used to construct the builings can be a pollutant and have an adverse effect on our health so we attempt to;
- Use low toxiticy materials and products
- Optimise indoor room temperatures and air quality
- Promote energy efficiency
- Reduce exposure to Electric and Magnetic field exposure
- Reduce mould with good air movement
- Be ecologically friendly
Peter Buruma [company director] is currently mid way through a certificate course via correspondence with the Building Biology & Ecology Institute in New Zealand.
